Most Noticeable JBL Speaker Cabinet

The best array of audio or video components will let you down if matched with poor-quality speakers. Speakers are sold through mass merchandisers, audio/video stores, and “boutique” retailers. To keep a balanced system, buy left and right speakers in pairs, rather than individually. The center-channel speaker should be matched to the front (or main) speakers. For the best sound, the rear speakers should also have a sound similar to the front speakers. The front speakers supply the stereo effect and carry most of the sound to the listener’s ears.

The center (or center-channel) speaker chiefly delivers dialog and is usually placed on top of or beneath the TV in a home-theater setup. Rear speakers, sometimes called surround or satellite speakers, deliver ambient effects such as crowd noise.
Price range: under $300 to over $1,000.
Bookshelf speakers. A pair of these can serve as the sole speakers in a stereo system or as the front or rear duo in a home-theater setup.
Price range: $100 to more than $800.
Floor-standing speakers. Typically about 3 to 4 feet tall, these large speakers can also serve as the sole speakers in a stereo system or as the front pair in a home-theater system. Their big cabinets have the potential to do more justice to deep bass than smaller speakers, but we believe many listeners would be satisfied with smaller speakers that scored well for bass handling. Center-channel speaker. In a multichannel setup, the center-channel speaker sits on or below the TV. Dedicated center-channel speakers are short and wide (6 inches high by 20 inches wide, for instance) so they perch neatly atop a TV. Read more…
Most Noticeable Setup Speakers

Home theater setup is somewhat foreign to many consumers. Proper setup can make the most meager of sound systems actually sound great. The owner’s manual to your receiver :
- A tape measure
- An SPL meter($20 at Radio Shack)
Read through the manual and find the sectionthat deals with speaker setup. The first is the speaker size setting. Speaker

size usually has to do with the crossover point at which the low sounds go from the main speakers to the subwoofer. The most typical difference is that the small setting sets the crossover at 80Hz and the large setting just eliminates the crossover, meaning the main speakers will produce all of the sound.
Most home theater kits from electronics stores are designed for the 80Hz crossover. If your speakers are hanging from the wall or on a bookshelf, they’re probably best suited for the small setting. If your speakers are the big floor-standing kind, they may be able to handle the large setting.
The next setting to worry about is speaker distance. Measure the distance between each speaker and your spot and write it down. Then put that distance into the distance setting for each individual speaker. Read more…
The Importance Of Amplifier Home Theater
By. Gregg Hall
I don’t know about you but I hate shopping all over the place trying to put together a package of anything and my Amplifier home theater system is the same way. Instead of shopping around and building a system from scratch that may not even ommunicate to each component properly why not do like I did and go with an all in one home theater system ?. These systems are now all inclusive and take away the headache of trying to figure out everything that is needed for the home theater experience, it all comes in one package. What makes a system a home theater is having a TV, eceiver/ amplifier, home theater speakers, and a device such as a DVD player to play movies.

If you have more money you may even go all the way with customized lighting, seating, and even more sound but a good way to get started is with an all in one system. Usually what is included in an complete package will be the speakers, receiver for surround sound, and a quality DVD player. Most all in ones will not have the TV as most people already have the television but there are some upgraded systems that will even include the television. You should have at least a 27″ TV but I prefer to have at least a 50″ for a true theater like experience. Once you have had a big screen TV you will never be able to go smaller again. Read more…
